For Leslie

#52
I went to the ice show tonight to support my fellow seniors in what is their last show, or last run of an ice show. And it was amazing. I have never seen any of them so happy while skating. They always had smiles on their faces whether they were skating a solo number, skating with a team or leading the little kids in a program they were just beaming. It was fun to watch. Earlier this year they lost a team member to leukemia (I think it was leukemia) and I think that is one of the reasons all the skating has gone so well for them, she is looking out for the team from wherever she is now. Anyway, while this picture may not be the most impressive from the night I thought it was the most fitting. This is the Windjammer team in their final pose of their number. They all have embroidered sunflowers on their dresses in honor of Leslie. (though I don't think you can see that in this picture.) Either way, I took about 500 pictures tonight (and it took about 2 hours to load them on my computer... why it was so slow? I will find that out.) and this ended up being one of my favorite shots.

Congrats skaters.

Rainy Days

#51
The only thing missing from the rain today was thunder and lightning. Granted the day isn't over yet... but I really want a storm. Anyway, I didn't have a picture yet so I threw on my rain boots and headed outside. My dad just got a new camera and I was gonna use that, but he wasn't so sure about getting it wet. (I will for sure be trying out that camera this weekend though. It looks like it has potential). I had some fun using the self timer. I haven't used that in a while. I love rain. And rain boots.

Photo?

#50
We are working on a hand coloring project in photo right now, so I spent yesterdays photo class, todays photo class and my open hour today painting a black and white photo with watercolors. I realized within these past 2 days that one, I can't paint with watercolors to save my life and two, the photo I picked was NOT the right choice. So I found a better picture today that I will print tomorrow and start coloring on Thursday. (And I will probably still be ahead of some of the people in my class). I also started working/plotting my final today. I'm kind of excited for it. I love photo. (Hence this blog). =]

A little too late

#49
I was driving home from work tonight and the moon rise looked awesome. A crescent moon under a fading blue sky. It was so cool. Sadly I didn't have my camera with me (stupid) so I rushed home grabbed my camera and ran out the door. This is what I got. I'm not all that impressed with it. Its blurry and I missed the sweetness of the sky. Also this is another one of my "I need a better camera" shots. I needed a longer exposure and I can't adjust that on a point and shoot, but oh well. I do what I can.

Backstage Fun

#48
This show isn't all that complicated for stage left (my side of the stage). We have about 6 shifts that consist of a bench going on and off stage and about 3 shifts that consist of a motorcycle being pushed down a ramp onto the stage. And all of these shifts take place during the first act... other than that we don't have a whole lot going on. So we started coloring on tape with a black sharpie. Of course we only had one sharpie so we had to take turns. Then I decided to be smart and brought in paper and colored pencils. 75 in total. It keeps us entertained. (Sometimes I feel like I'm 5 because I need crayons and colors to keep me occupied. But I kinda love it). =]

p.s. we are extending the show for another weekend. So feel free to grab tickets. Or to come again. =]

Karaoke

#47
After the show today we celebrated a friends birthday by throwing a surprise party. I want to say it ended up being successful. From what I could tell she was quite surprised. =] yay us! Anyway, during the party we started playing Disney Karaoke on the Wii. This is a picture of some friends singing (gosh, what were they singing... OH YEAH) Breaking Free from High School Musical. It was quite humorous (and not all that bad). Hopefully everyone that sang will be able to sing for the show tomorrow... fingers crossed their voices won't give out.

School lunch

#46
This makes up for yesterday... I have yet to take a picture today.
School lunches are always a bit questionable. Well let me just say the nacho cheese is probably the most questionable thing served. Sure, it doesn't taste so bad. But it doesn't move. You could hold the container it comes in upside down and the cheese would never drip out. Its kinda gross.

p.s. Show update: Opening was awesome. Get tickets. Come see it. =]

Apologies.

I am running on about a total of 20 hours of sleep within the past 5 or 6 days. I am TIRED. So I'm going to bed. Sorry, no post today. I have a picture but you won't get to see it till I wake up. Which may be 3:00pm.

Thank you, Fly

#45
If you didn't know, we all lost a good friend earlier this year to leukemia. He worked on the shows with us and he became a huge part of our lives, theatre and otherwise. Today was his birthday so, in honor of that, and of the show opening tomorrow, we decided to go paint the rock outside of our school entrance. (We planned on doing this the day after he died, but it was snowing so the paint would freeze, not dry. Bad idea) It turned out to be awesome. It's the coolest color green ever (his favorite color) and it has on it his saying "thank you, fly." This picture features my partner in crime who, if I'm guessing correctly, also posted a picture from this event.

Hair time!

#44
Yet another picture from tech week... I walked in today and came across this scene. My friend (who has been seen in this blog A LOT now [including the past 2 days]) was getting her hair done for the show. We hire in a hair stylist and she is AMAZING at what she does. And her bangs were curled as seen in the picture. It was quite comical. Too bad her bangs didn't stay like that for the show...

-L

p.s. don't forget to come see it!

It's late...

I am now officially starting to feel the effects of tech week... wow. Its almost 11 and I still have a lot to do before I get to bed. ick.

To make up for yesterday...

#42
This would be the typical actor tech shot. hair done. numerous items in hand prepping for the LONG week. =]

Today...

#43
At lunch today we took previously mentioned left behind camera and did a "photo shoot" outside. It was SUPER nice out, but it was a little chilly. Anyway, this is one of about 100 pictures we took.

ALSO...
I took some shots on a film camera while I went out sailing last friday and I wanted to use them as a picture of the day but I couldn't since the day I took them was about 5 days ago now. But I like them a lot so here are a few of the pictures I took that day. Bonus pictures! WOO!

TECH

Ok, so here's the deal. I took my picture today on my partner in crime's camera. He had brought it to tech and wasn't using it so I used it to my advantage. (I also needed to take a portrait of him for a project I'm working on in photo) While I was driving home he called me letting me know he had forgotten it at school. So, as of right now there is no picture to post today. But I will get it up tomorrow with my picture for tomorrow!

Sorry.
-L

P.S. for those of you that were wondering, tech wasn't that bad today. There are some things to work on, but its only Monday. We got time. =]

Short on time

#41
I didn't do much today. Ran, took a nap, read for school. I didn't really take the time nor did I really find anything exciting to take a picture of. So I just walked out the front door and snapped a shot. It finally got sunny after a cloudy rainy day and it was nice to see the sun.

-L

p.s. tech week. oh dear... feel free to get tickets to the show here!

SUVs

#40
After our first tech rehearsal today (7:45a-2:00p lots of fun...) there were a few of us that went over to Eden Prairie to see 17 Again. The movie is amazing. Go see it. It's adorable. (Besides, Matthew Perry and Zac Efron in one movie?! Thats reason enough to go!) On our way out of the theatre we were walking back to the car and came across this one. First of all, Mini Coopers are kind of one of my favorite cars, so that was exciting. Then I saw the license plate on the car and just about died. It reads IH8SUVS. I thought it was fitting. And no tech tomorrow! I get to sleep in for the last time probably till I graduate... (ick)

"sailing"...

#39
I finally got to go out on the water tonight. It was amazing. We were planning on going sailing, but the wind died just as we were ready to go out. But we still wanted to get out so we just motored around. We ended up going over to Big Island and explored in the woods. I even waded out in the water. I didn't feel THAT cold, it wasn't painful to stand in, but I wouldn't go swimming just yet. =]. Anyway, after I went to Dunn in Excel to see Alison Scott play. (Check out her stuff here!)She is kind of amazing. I tried taking some shots there but nothing came out. It made me a little sad. Better luck next time!

Elvis.

#38
I have a feeling my next like, 8 posts will be shots of All Shook Up. (Tech week is next week and I will be spending about 6 or so hours in the theatre every night prepping for opening next Friday). Anyway, the shot today comes from the song "C'mon Everybody" It's an awesome song. The show is looking amazing. I can't wait to see it all come together with lights costumes and an actual pit instead of just a piano. The guy in the red (with the red guitar) is our lead. He plays Chad (the "Elvis" character) and is AMAZING at the part. And he can actually play guitar which is a huge plus. =]

Sunset

#37
I went to excel with a friend tonight (who is very proud of the fact that this is her 4th appearance in my blog). We went to Dunn Bros to get smoothies then walked to the water front since Ice Out happened a few days ago. It was my first time seeing the water without the ice all year (hers too I think) and let me tell you, I haven't been so excited about ice out ever. Anyway, the sunset tonight was beautiful. Not as impressive as some I've seen, but the fact that it was over water and not ice for the first time this year made it all the better. I love Excelsior. And spring. And I can't wait till summer. =]

Gettin Closer...

#36
Once again, my picture today comes from practice. When we don't close the blinds in the Black Box the sun shines through insanely bright. Sometimes its annoying, but we haven't seen the sun (the WARM sun) in a long time so we all liked it. It also made a sweet effect if people were positioned right while they were rehearsing. There was one shot that was WAY cooler than this, but I didn't have my camera out so I missed it. But this one was kinda cool too. Tech starts this weekend which means I am about to enter the most stressful week of my life. But I'm excited. =]

-L

p.s. This is also an annoyingly blurry picture. Sorry. I need a camera with a faster shutter speed... sometimes the point and shoot doesn't always cut it.

But not like I love my Guitar

#35
Pretty much, I got bored at practice. We finally started using an actual guitar for practice now instead of using an "air guitar." The guitar they got is gorgeous. I love the red color. A lot. So this is just a picture I snapped of it while I was bored at practice. Its gotten to the point where I really don't have to do anything but keep actors quiet (which almost never works... but I try).

Peace
-L

p.s. Anyone recognize the Prince song? Its a good one.

Easter Weekend

Friday-

#32
We made it to Bemidji! While in Bemidj, we have things we do to pass the time. One of them is pool. Or was pool, now we just play ping pong. But I can't really talk, I spend most of my free time watching Grey's (I'm still an addict).

Saturday-

#33
Another thing we do a lot of is walking. There are awesome parks close to my Grandma's house and we walked through one of them that was recently renovated. So I looked like a tourist and walked around with 2 cameras (one film one digital) and took some pictures.

Sunday-

#34
Happy Easter! On our way home from Bemidji we stopped at our cabin (its on the way) to check in, make sure their wasn't any huge damage and to measure the front door (why? I have no idea). But it was a lot of fun to stop in. I missed the cabin through the winter and I hardly ever see the lake with ice on it. So that was kinda fun. In fact, I hardly ever see it in the winter. Well, "winter" I guess its spring now, huh.

Y-E-S-!

#31
Story time! At lunch today my friend listened to a CD made for her by her boyfriend asking her to prom. Now, when one of them is asked in a cute way, the other responds in a similar and also cute way. On the CD, he sang the song L.O.V.E. but changed the letters to P.R.O.M and changed the corresponding phrases. So as her way to say yes, she did the same thing only changed the words to Y.E.S.!. She sang it in front of everyone before play practice today to say yes to him. It was adorable.

-L

P.S. I will be out of town all weekend with no access to a computer. So be expecting a 3 picture post on Sunday! Have a good weekend!

Oops

#30
In photography (the class), if we have nothing else to do we always work on other homework. Well today, one of my friends was showing off just how much work she did for AP Euro and while flipping through the pages of her book she happened to tear off a corner of a page. But it was hanging on by just a thread. We all found it quite funny. And then continued to make fun of her for it, but mostly for her reaction to what she had just done. There is never a dull day in photo.

The Store

#29
I was at work this afternoon with a friend (seen in the picture). While I'm at work I always have the urge to walk around with a basket on my head, I'm not sure why, but I do. So we decided to do just that. There was no one upstairs (luckily) while we were taking the pictures. But by the end of our basket photo shoot someone made their way pretty close to where we were. Hopefully they didn't see us. But who knows.

Daily Advice

#28
Every time I go to work I pass this bank (and this sign). They have been putting up little quotes and sayings (or important events) for as long as I can remember. I took a picture of the sign yesterday for my post but I liked the snow better. So I decided I should post one today. They changed the sign overnight. It now says this, not the quote it said yesterday. But I liked it because, being a senior, I really do need to enjoy each moment. Its like my english teacher tells us "enjoy it, its almost over"

End of SPRING break

#27
This is what I woke up to this morning. The last day of spring (yes, SPRING) break and there was a good layer of snow on the ground. In this picture, the snow is starting to melt (I took it on my way to work around noon) but it wasn't melting when I woke up... Though, it was gone by the time I got off work at 5. So I can't complain much. And the weather is supposed to get better around the end of the week (50's =] ) Fingers crossed it actually stays that warm this time. Doesn't the saying go April showers bring may flowers. I always thought showers meant RAIN, not snow...

-L

p.s. an explanation on yesterdays photo... I was wrapped up in Grey's Anatomy (I'm newly addicted) and I really didn't want to break to take a picture. Hence the... photo. Now that I'm done posting... back to Grey's. =]

Shopping Results

#25
I went dress shopping today with a friend and her sister, not planning on getting anything (I didn't even bring any money with me). Then we went to this outlet store and I found the most awesome dress ever. And it was 70% off. Luckily I have an awesome friend who bought it for me (yes, I will pay her back as soon as I get a chance to run to the bank) So my picture for today is a shot of the pattern of my dress. I was in one of my "I don't want to take a picture today" moods, so this picture isn't artsy or creative in any way. Hopefully I'll have something better tomorrow...

Whats missing?

#24
I went on an adventure with a friend today to Minneapolis to take pictures. (We finally got a nice day to do it). While we were down there we walked over to the Sculpture Garden and saw the cherry and the spoon. Only, the cherry was gone, which was kinda sad. It was weird to see one without the other. But all in all we had a great time. In total we took 481 pictures combined, which is an insane amount. Now I get to go through them all and see which ones will actually be worth using for anything. Woo!

When it snows... In April

#23
I woke up this morning to a layer of snow on the ground. (Now that I think about it I should have taken a picture of that but I was so mad at the snow that I couldn't stand to even look at it. Its April for crying out loud) Anyway... I started working on this bracelet yesterday and I decided since I couldn't be outside (even though I could, I just didn't want to be... in the snow) I would work on it. I ended up finishing it, but its almost too small for my wrist. It made me sad. But I still liked (like) it. Beyond making this bracelet, it was a pretty dull day consisting of the dentist and work. =/ Fun fun...

'Till tomorrow
-L
